Gokyo Ri Trek - Tranquil lakes and majestic Himalayas
GokyoRi Trekking is an ultimate trekking package to
explore the massive mountain peaks, glaciers and the beautiful lakes of Everest
Region. The beauty of Himalayas is spell-bounding. Once you enter in this
region you will be stunned with the view of the Great Himalayas – also known as
the crown of the world. Gokyo Ri trekking can be the
best option for the trekkers who can conquer the high altitudes, walk over the
rough trials and can handle the fairy cold climate which exist almost every
day. The trial not only offers you the natural beauty but also the traditional
and biological splendor.
Starting with a flight from
Kathmandu to Lukla, this trekking is of 15 days. From Lukla, we will start
walking on the side of Dudh Koshi River and proceed to Phakding. The trial
passes through beautiful waterfalls and some rivers. On the way, we pass some
villages, where we can observe the living styles, culture and traditions of the
people living in these regions. We will continue our journey to Namche Bazaar where
we can spend a day and enjoy the scenic views of Namche Bazar. Continuing our
trek, we will pass through Phortse village and Machhermo village which provide
you the finest view of mountains. Similarly, on the way we can see the biggest
glacier of Nepal- Ngozumba Glacier. After this, we will be at Gokyo valley with
the spell bounding views of beautiful lakes and towering mountains. You can see
a small settlement on the edge of third lake. Just above Gokyo, the snowy cones
are seen glittering which includes world’s highest mountain Mt. Everest and Cho
Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu. Since the views are numerous, you can see the
tremendous ice edges between Cho Oyu and Gyachung (7922m). This route can be a
better option to enjoy the beauty of Mountain peaks, glaciers, beautiful lakes
and moreover the view of Giokyo Valley.
Trek Itinerary Details:-
Day 01 : Arrival
in Kathmandu (1,335m) and transfer to the hotel :
After you land at Tribhuwan International
airport, you will be welcomed by our office representative. As he will be
holding your name plate, it will be easy for you to recognize him. Then after,
he will transfer you to the hotel. You can freshen up and have some walk around
Thamel. At the evening our guide will give some briefing about our trek and
routes. Overnight at hotel inclusive Breakfast.
Day 02 : Sightseeing
in Kathmandu Valley :
To
make your trip more memorable, we will take you to have some sightseeing in the heritage sites of Kathmandu valley. You will be visiting some historical and cultural places. Our
program includes sightseeing around Swyambhunath stupa, Bouddhanath Stupa,
Pashupatinath temple and Kathmandu durbar square. Swyambhunath stupa and
Bouddhanath Stupa are famous Buddhist holy places whereas Pashupatinath temple
is famous Hindu holy site. Similarly Kathmandu durbar square carries historical
values. You can also have some shopping of Nepalese product. Overnight at hotel
inclusive breakfast.
Day 03 : Flight
to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2,652m) - 3 hrs walk :
After our breakfast, we will catch a flight for
Lukla which is of 35 minutes. Your flight to Lukla will be memorable as it
helps you to fly over beautiful mountains and hills. After reaching Lukla, you
will have to trek to Phakding along the Dudh Khosi River. Phakding is a
beautiful place with greenery landscape and can have the view of Kusum
Kangararu from there. Overnight at guest house inclusive of full board meals.
Day 04 : Phakding
to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) - 6 hrs walk :
We will trek through Himalayan pine and deodar forest
following the Dudh Koshi River and crossing it for many times to reach
Namchebazaar. Namche Bazaar. On the way from Jhorsale, we will be entering in
national park. Passing the place where Saturday bazar is organized and going
through some villages, we will be at Namche Bazar. You can buy necessary
materials in Namche Bazar. We will spend two days exploring lives in this area,
shopping and for acclimatization. . Overnight at guest house inclusive of full
board meals.
Day 05 : Acclimatization
in Namche Bazaar :
As
Namche is a cool place and the climate here is so unpredictable so, you should
be physically and mentally prepared to face it. After breakfast we will move
towards Everest view Hotel/Khumjung. We have to go above Namchebazaar and pass
through Syangboche. From the top of hill above Syangboche you will get the
splendid view of world highest peak Mount Everest(8,848m), including other
peaks like Tangboche peak (6,367m), Lhotse (8414m), Amadublam (6,856m). After
reaching to Khumjung you can visit school established by Hillary. We will start
next trek after having lunch passing the foot path of Khimde. After having good
time there we will get back to Namche. Overnight at guest house inclusive of full
board meals.
Day 06 : Namche
Bazaar to Dole (4,086m) - 6 hrs walk :
The trial is flat and easy in the beginning up to
Kyangjuma which also provides you the panoramic views. But after that, the
trial goes ups and downs to the valley through beautiful rhododendron and pine
forests. The trek is found to be more enthusiasm when the rhododendron blooms
and provides you its natural scent. In the summer, the Sherpas bring their
herds of yaks to graze in these lands. The route passes through the settlements
of Mong La (3880m), Tongba (3950m) and Gyele (3960m). We can have the view of
Mt. Clolatse (6335m), Mt. Khumbila (5765m), Mt. Tawache (6542m) and Mt. Cho Oyu
(8,201m) on the way to Dole. Enjoying the view of mountains and beautiful
rhododendron, we will be at Dole. Overnight at lodge, on full board meals.
Day 07 : Dole
to Machhermo (4,400m) 5 hrs walk :
After our breakfast, we will move for Machhermo. We
will catch a descending trial which is mostly steeply as it goes through
Juniper forest. We will pass Lopharma(4300m) and Luza(4360m) on the way. Little
climbing, walking over the river and crossing a small pass, we will be at
Machhermo. It is said that in 1974, Yeti killed three yaks and attacked a
Sherpa woman in the valley of Machhermo. . Overnight at lodge, on full board
meals.
Day 08 : Machhermo
to Gokyo (4,750m) - 5 hrs walk :
Today we will head towards the land of lakes of
Everest region i.e. Gokyo valley. The trek starts following a path to Pangka
and enjoying the beauties on the way. Then we need to descend beside the river
which follows down to Ngozumpa Glacier. And then after climbing steeply towards
the direction of Ngozumba glacier where the Gokyo lakes valley starts and first
lake is visible. Then we will see second lake, and crossing the path which goes
across the glacier to Cho La (5420m). Then we will see third lake known as Didh
Pokhari, and a settlement on its eastern shore. Going by the banks of the
lakes, we will be at Gokyo. Overnight at guesthouse, inclusive of full board
meals.
Day 09 : Rest
day in Gokyo :
Today
we will stay at the Gokyo valley, take rest and have some sightseeing around
the valley. After having breakfast, we will set off to enjoy the beauty of the
lakes of the valley. We will ascend to the Gokyo Ri for about 2 hours from
where we can have the a panoramic view of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest,
Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and Tawache & a long huge looking of Ngozumpa
glacier- the largest glacier of Nepal. After spending some time and capturing
some moments, we will be back to hotel and then have luck and relax. .
Overnight at lodge, on full board meals
Day 10 : Gokyo
to Phortse (3,810m) - 6 hrs walk :
We fallow the same trail back about an hour. Before
Phang route turns left to the Dudhkoshi where about two three tea house are
available after cross the Dudhkoshi. It follows the river and sometime brings
you higher trails than going up to Gokyo via Dole/Machhermo. It is just
opposite trails which you could have seen during ascend for Gokyo. This route
gives you a opportunities to see more beautiful scenery. Thus, leads us via
Thare to Phortse village where we sleep for overnight on full board meals.
Day 11 : Trek
to Tengboche (3,860m) - 2 hrs walk :
The trek today is found to be more enjoyable than the
previous days. It is a short walk through Rhododendron forest, and we can see
the wildlife like Musk deer, Pheasant {Nepali national bird}, mountain goats
and many more. We have to walk steeply down to the Imja Khola and the trial
goes up to Tyangboche. At Tyangboche, you can visit some monasteries and have
view of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest and some others. You can get caf? where
cakes and breads are available. . Overnight at lodge on full bard meals.
Day 12 : Trek
to Namche bazaar - 5 hrs walk :
After having breakfast, we will start our journey to
Namche Bazaar. The trial goes through rhododendron & pine forest where you
can have fresh air. At forst, we will descend down to Phungi temple and climb
to Kyangjuma. Today, we can also spend night at Khumjung or go further down to
Jhorsalle. Overnight at lodge on full board meals.
Day 13 : Trek
to Lukla - (2800m) 7 hrs walk :
Trek continuously back to Lukla along the Dudh Koshi
river about 7 hours from Namche and overnight at Lukla with full board meals
(Breakfast/Dinner/Lunch).
Day 14 : Fly
back to Kathmandu :
After
breakfast early in the morning heading to airport for scenic flight about 35
minutes to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel for overnight inclusive BB.
Day 15 : Departure
to your own destination :
Today
is your departure day, we will drop you to the International airport to catch
your flight back to your home and pray for your Safe journey.

Typical day while on trek
Age Range and Type of groups
Trekkers should be physically fit and mentally prepared to complete this trek. And travel insurance is required in case of emergency helicopter evacuation. Age between 12 years to 65 years old are accepted.
We arrange this trek for groups of family, friends, colleagues and couple, individual. Small group departure and private departure are available.
Sleeping and meals
2 nights double occupancy deluxe accommodation at three star hotel category in Kathmandu city which includes bed and breakfast.
Twin sharing accommodation at local lodges for overnight stay including full board meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) with hot tea or coffee as per your choice everyday during the trek. Continental, Chinese, Nepali and Indian menu foods will be served.
Chance of flight hassle
Please note : sometimes the flight can be delayed or cancelled in the mountain regions of this type due to inclement weather and other unpredictable reasons beyond our control. Our guests are expected to be patient.
